Images of Turbulence in a Tokamak Plasma

چکیده
Two-dimensional measurements of density fluctuations in the DIII-D tokamak, obtained with the Beam Emission Spectroscopy diagnostic, have allowed for construction of images and movies of plasma turbulence which are greatly aiding an understanding of tokamak turbulence phenomena. The measurements are obtained in the radial and poloidal plane at a spatial resolution of near 1 cm (about five ion gyroradii). Assembly of synchronized discrete measurements provides a low spatial resolution, high sensitivity, high throughput, high time resolution ( = 1 s) imaging system. These measurements have shed light on such processes as flow shear, turbulent eddy interaction and shearing, and provide direct visualization of long wavelength turbulence in a hot plasma.

Numerical Studies and Simulation of the Lower Hybrid Waves Current Drive by using Fokker – Planck Equation in NSST and HT-7 Tokamaks
Recent experiments on the spherical tokamak have discovered the conditions to create a powerful plasma and ensure easy shaping and amplification of stability, high bootstrap current and confinement energy. The spherical tours (ST) fusion energy development path is complementary to the tokamak burning plasma experiment such as NSTX and higher toroidal beta regimes and improves the design of a po...

The transport of heat in laboratory and astrophysical plasmas is dominated by the complex nonlinear dynamics of plasma turbulence. In magnetically confined plasmas used for fusion energy research, turbulence is responsible for cross-field transport that limits the performance of tokamak reactors. We report a set of novel gyrokinetic simulations that capture ion and electron-scale turbulence sim...

Introduction: The electromagnetic gyrokinetic (GK) plasma simulation [1] for toroidal magnetic fusion devices has become a standard tool for turbulence analysis. Recently, it has been recognized that transport involving dynamic changes in profiles requires modelling with full f GK methods [2]. In the present work, we report on transport simulations for the FT-2 tokamak plasma with a full f nonl...

متن کاملA comparison between a refined two-point model for the limited tokamak SOL and self-consistent plasma turbulence simulations
A refined two-point model is derived from the drift-reduced Braginskii equations for the limited tokamak scrape-off layer (SOL) by balancing the parallel and perpendicular transport of plasma and heat and taking into account the plasma-neutral interaction. The model estimates the electron temperature drop along a field line, from a region far from the limiter to the limiter plates. Self-consist...
